San Antonio Spurs lead in the Western conference

Danny Green was the key factor for the San Antonio Spurs to ease past the Oklahoma City Thunder (112-77) on Wednesday night and seal a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals.
Green scored his 21 points from behind the arc, from a 7 for 10 ratio and the Spurs remained in the control of the series and maintained their home-court advantage.
“We know what is at stake. Every possession and every point counts, and we are treating every game as a Game 7,” Green told reporters after the game.
The Spurs led by 14 points at the break, and extended their lead to 31 points in the third quarter, leaving the Thunder unable to respond.
Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant were the only OKC starters to scoring in double digits with 15 points apiece, but they never returned to the floor for the final quarter as they trailed 91-62, while Jeremy Lamb added 13 points off the bench for the visitors.
After spending 41 minutes in Game 1, Durant had a much lower contribution activity with only 28 minutes.
“Green and Ginoboli had threes on me. We should not be that much down at halftime. I take full responsibility,” Durant said.
The fourth quarter was mostly played between the reserves of both teams, as San Antonio never showed signs of slowing down, although the OKC bench outscored the Spurs 43-42.
Tim Duncan had 14 points and 12 rebounds for San Antonio and extended his record as the second player in the NBA history with most double-doubles (153) in the playoffs, behind Magic Johnson’s 157.
Tony Parker run the Spurs’ engine with a game-high 22 points and 5 assists. “He keeps us aggressive and active offensively. He is the head of the snack for sure,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told a postgame press conference.
OKC’s overall performance was far from their early days in the season.
On Wednesday night the Thunder were 2 for 20 from the three-point line, 5 for 10 from the free-throw line, and it became clear that head coach Scott Brook and his squad have a tough uphill battle to overcome, especially when starters Nick Collison, Kendrick Perkins and Thabo Sefolosha combined for four points.
After allowing 62 points in the paint in Game 1, the Thunder nine three-pointers.
“We are disappointed how this game turned out,” Brooks said, explaining that they have been this disadvantage before. “We definitely don’t want to be in this position, but we are. Our focus now is just getting one win in Game 3,” he said.
Game 3 is Sunday at Oklahoma City
